Theory of objectification emerges as a possibility to understand the teaching and learning process of mathematics considering subjects in constant formation and transformation through the relationship with the other and with knowledge. In this article, mathematical knowledge is highlighted, especially algebra and its teaching, seeking evidence of the process of objectification the recognition of variable magnitudes by teachers of the Early Years in an online training. The constitution of the data occurred with the completion of a continuing education course with teachers who teach mathematics in the Early Years of Elementary School, which was composed of synchronous and asynchronous tasks in the months of May and June 2021. The meetings were recorded in audio and video and later transcribed. In this article, one of the tasks carried out will be presented, which addressed conceptual links related to the mathematical understanding of function. In carrying out the task, it was possible to identify evidence of the teachers' objectification process related to the recognition of variable magnitudes, through sound hesitations, moments of tension and dialogue between the researcher and the participants, in addition to other singular manifestations of objectification.
